The Lil' Pirates wrapped up the school year with a favorite Pirate tradition: Track and Field Day. This exciting event is held for all students in Young 5s through 4th grade and gives kids a chance to spend the day participating in a variety of active, outdoor activities and games.
On Wednesday, June 3rd, Young 5s and Kindergarten classes stormed the football field in pure excitement, on Thursday, June 4th, 1st and 2nd graders spent a sunny afternoon outside, and due to rainy weather on Friday, 3rd and 4th graders spent a bright and early morning outside on Monday, June 8th - one of the last half days of the school year.
While outside, students took part in many different events, including a softball/baseball throw, the shoe kick, frisbee throw, multiple relay races, and several other activities. One event that always stands out is the tug-of-war competition. To wrap up each afternoon, classes compete against each other, pulling with all their strength in hopes of earning a victory for their grade level.
Throughout the event, high school Leadership students volunteer to help facilitate the games and activities. They work in rotating shifts and enjoy spending time with the younger students while helping make Track and Field Day a fun and memorable experience for everyone involved.
