Last week was full of exciting events for Spitler Elementary students. As the school year is coming to an end, Spitler’s schedule has been packed full of anticipated activities for the students to enjoy. The excitement kicked off on Wednesday with Dunk Tank Day, an activity used to raise money for the Parent Teacher Organization. In order to dunk a staff member, students paid ten dollars for 3 throws or twenty dollars for  three throws and a free “push the button” pass. A total of nearly $2,300 was raised throughout the duration of the event. 

Thursday, many students participate in their annual obstacle course event -  a positive reinforcement activity at Spitler. Throughout the year, students can earn little hearts that they can then use to “buy” entrance to the obstacle course as a reward. The obstacle course went through Spitler’s playground, with high school students helping the elementary kids get where they needed to go. 

The final event of the week, which took place on Friday, was the Touch a Truck event. For this activity, local police officers, firefighters, and EMTs came to the school to educate students about their jobs, as well as give them the opportunity to explore various safety vehicles and the equipment they use. Overall, the week was an unforgettable one for the Lil’ Pirates as they look to June and summer vacation!
