Dear Pirate Nation, Good morning, as the weather starts to warm up, please keep in mind the school dress code. Ultimately, we want to come to school looking appropriate and respectable. If you have to ask if an item of clothing is appropriate, it probably isn’t and should be saved for the weekend. The last thing we want is to have clothing get in the way of learning for you and others, so please use common sense and ask yourself, “Would my grandmother be proud to see me in this?”
Parents, your support would be greatly appreciated.
DRESS AND GROOMING POLICY The Board of Education recognizes that each student's mode of dress and grooming is a manifestation of personal style and individual preference. The Board will not interfere with the right of students and their parents to make decisions regarding their appearance, except when their choices interfere with the educational program of the schools. Accordingly, the Superintendent shall establish such grooming guidelines as are necessary to promote discipline, maintain order, secure the safety of students, and provide a healthy environment conducive to academic purposes. Such guidelines shall prohibit student dress or grooming practices which: present a hazard to the health or safety of the student himself/herself or to others in the school; interfere with school work, create disorder, or disrupt the educational program; cause excessive wear or damage to school property; prevent the student from achieving his/her own educational objectives because of blocked vision or restricted movement. Students who violate the foregoing rules will not be admitted to class and may be suspended from school. Student dress is a factor in the establishment of an educational atmosphere and clothing should be appropriate for school. Standards of dress which clearly deal with health and safety of students will be upheld (i.e., profanity or vulgar suggestions are not permissible on clothing). A. Students should dress in a common sense manner. Students are expected to consider their school grooming, personal hygiene and dress patterns to complement their education and be conducive to learning and working environment. No student will be allowed to attend school if his/her personal hygiene or wearing apparel endangers his own health or safety, or the health and/or safety of others, or interferes in any way with anyone's right to an education. The final decision on any case will rest with the building principal. B. The following is a list of unacceptable attire for the student body: Any clothing that is not in good taste and exposes undergarments or excessive amounts of flesh is not acceptable. Determination of inappropriate clothing will be at the discretion of an administrator or his/her designee. No students are allowed to wear tops that allow the exposure of the midriff or cleavage. Tank straps must be 3 fingers wide. Student dress (including accessories) may not advertise, promote, or depict alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, violent behavior, political affiliation or other inappropriate images. Student dress (including accessories) may not display lewd, political, vulgar, obscene, or offensive language or symbols, including gang symbols. Hats, coats, bandanas, sweat bands, the hood for a hooded sweatshirt, and sunglasses may not be worn in the building during the school day. Hair styles, dress, and accessories that pose a safety hazard are not permitted in the laboratories, or during physical education. (Hats may be worn on designated hat days). No costume material/paraphernalia unless approved by the building principal. Clothing with holes, rips or tears above mid-thigh, and clothing that is otherwise poorly fitting, showing skin and/or undergarments may not be worn at school. The length of shorts or skirts must be appropriate for the school environment. Appropriate and safe footwear must be worn at all times. (slippers are not appropriate footwear, but may be worn on pajama days) If there is any doubt about dress and appearance, the building principal will make the final decision. Students whose dress causes a substantial disruption of the orderly process of school functions or endangers the health or safety of the student, other students, staff or others may be subject to discipline.

Pirate Nation! Our soccer team has been busy! The team fell to Montague 0-5 but turned things around on the road against Chippewa Hills. Our Pirates won 7-0!!
Rilynn Porter 2 goals and 1 assist for a Woman of the Match performance! Natalie Rosema 2 goals, Olivia Bradley, Brooklyn Storms, and Addison Kokx each scored one.
Breslyn Porter, Zoily Sarabia, and Devyn Adams each had an assist.
The defense of Kailey Edenburn, Faith VanderVlucht, April Chaffee, Destiny Rodriguez, and Arianna Vela-Cantu made it an easy evening for keeper Emma Jeffries only allowing one shot, that was not on goal, through the entirety of the contest. #runtheship #piratepride
