Hart High School students participated in the annual Homecoming Pep Assembly during 5th and 6th hours on Friday, September Twenty-Fourth. The assembly was hosted in the main gymnasium prior to the Homecoming parade and football game later that evening.
The Pep Assembly, facilitated by the Hart Leadership class led by Mrs. DeVries and Mr. Hertzler, included games with running, civil rivalries, and school spirit. The games award each class points that go towards the Homecoming Spirit Cup. The following games were played at the assembly: dizzy-bat soccer, finish the lyrics, blind volleyball, head/shoulders/knees, and cup, and a scavenger hunt, among a few others.
While on the topic of the games played at the assembly, when questioned about what her favorite activity she participated in at the Homecoming Pep Assembly, freshman Peyton Erickson said, “My favorite game I participated in was blind volleyball; it was super fun, and I loved the challenge of not being able to see [what was happening on the other side of the net].”
When asked about his experience of organizing the Homecoming Pep assembly, senior and Leadership student Caden VanGelderen said, “It was a little difficult trying to plan games for everyone to enjoy, but I had fun doing it.”
The ranking after the occurrence of the competition were the seniors in first place, sophomores in second place, juniors in third, and the freshmen in last place. The official scores of the overall Homecoming week Spirit Cup Competition were announced at the Homecoming Football game on Friday night. Overall points included Spirit Week participation, the annual Powderpuff event, and class float placements. The final standings resulted in the seniors taking first place with the juniors just two points behind, the freshmen in third, and the sophomores finishing in last place.
