Make it Take it Event

Make It Take It Event at DWECC

By: Rhezlynn Shafer

Diman-Wolf Early Childhood Center hosts three literacy and math-centered events each year for its young students and their parents, called “Make It Take It." During these in-classroom activities, students make projects alongside their family members and classmates, all while staying cozy in their pajamas and enjoying a snack. Afterwards, the students can select a free book before heading home. These projects allow the children to implement what they’ve learned at Diman-Wolf, as well as practice essential skills they will need before moving on to kindergarten. Teachers and staff alike hope that these gatherings will help pre-school children prepare themselves for elementary school, enforcing a variety of social skills as well as knowledge they will need for kindergarten-level classes.

The first Make It Take It event was hosted on November 25th from 2:15-3:00 pm, where students played a math-centered pre-made game. This activity allowed the pre-schoolers to develop and showcase their counting skills in a fun, collaborative way with their friends and family. The next and last Make It Take It event will take place on February 12, from 2:15 to 3:00 pm. These fun games make otherwise tedious subjects engaging and entertaining for the young minds of the students, creating a positive learning experience.

Diman-Wolf educators hope to continue Make It Take It, further nurturing and creating an exciting atmosphere for the young learners. Thank you to all the staff of Diman-Wolf for making learning exhilarating for all their students!
